The Venerable Stewart Fyfe, Archdeacon of West Cumberland and our President announced the ‘Young Ringer Award’ winner at the Guild AGM on 18th April 2026 with the following words:
“The Carlisle Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers’ ‘Young Ringer Award’ is given each year to a Guild member under the age of 21. The award is given in recognition of the progress and commitment made by the young ringer in all areas of ringing.
The winner of the Award cannot be here today – and so the Award was made to her at the Eastern Branch AGM.
However, it is my great pleasure to announce at this Guild AGM that the very deserving recipient of the 2025 Young Ringer Award is … Paisley Cater.
Paisley attends practices and rings at Penrith tower and often helps out at local towers like Greystoke and Great Salkeld.
Eager to learn, Paisley tackles new challenges, confidently treble bobs on eight bells, and is working on Kent Minor inside after mastering Plain Bob Minor.
Paisley has rung three peals and a number of quarter peals, earning a reputation as a skilled and dependable treble ringer.
As one of the two co-captains for the Cumbrian Herdwicks, Paisley helped guide the team through the ‘Ringing World National Youth Striking Competition’. Her keen ear helps her offer helpful, thoughtful feedback to the Herdwicks, always with kindness and tact. She is always friendly and welcoming to new Herdwick members.
Paisley is a worthy winner of the ‘Young Ringer Award’ and we all warmly congratulate her and look forward to hearing of her future achievements.”
