A great day was had by all the teams taking part on a glorious sunny May day in Greystoke. The Penrith team reigned victorious in both categories – with ‘Penrith Pringles’ winning ‘Rounds and Call Changes’ and ‘Penrith Powers’ winning ‘Methods’. But the main winner was Bellringing!
It was lovely to see young people taking part and we are grateful to Milly Lawson for her write-up of the event:

Milly Lawson writes:
This year’s striking competition was in Greystoke which is a beautiful part of the county. The sun was shining and we were all out in the Churchyard, talking, laughing and just having a great time. The bellringing community really is a special thing.
I had the opportunity to ring in the Lazonby (The Belles of

Lazonby) and Great Salkeld teams (Salkeld Skittles), as well as a scratch band which was most of the young ringers going to the Ringing World National Youth Contest in July (Cumbrian Herdwicks).
Thank you to the judge Jack Hanlon, who travelled over from the North East. He is Tower Captain of the ring of 10 bells in Hartlepool and the 12 bells at Stockton on Tees. Plus he used to run the youth team for the Durham and Newcastle Guild. He provided some really nice comments for each team plus gave advice about how teams could improve. It was really helpful.
