I’m pleased to announce that we rang a successful peal during the visit of His Majesty King Charles III to celebrate bestowing the title of Royal Port of Barrow in recognition of the contribution of 150 years of shipbuilding to the defence of our nation and allies through conflicts including both world wars, and for the critical role it continues to play delivering world class submarines to the Royal Navy.

Rung during the visit of His Majesty King Charles III to bestow the title of Royal Port of Barrow.
Also for the commissioning of HMS Agamemnon built in the Barrow shipyard, and the cutting steel ceremony of the Dreadnought class submarine HMS King George VI.
The ringers of bells 3, 5 & 7 all work locally at the shipyard.
First on 8: 1.
Also of note is that this is just the second peal for both Jason and Cameron and the first rung together (and with their dad!), and just the 3rd peal that Jayden has conducted.
The bells cast in 1877 are almost as old as the shipyard which was formed in 1871, and have been rung on many historic occasions for the town over the years.
A proud moment to be able to ring the peal as a tribute to the people of Barrow at such a historic occasion for the town and shipyard.
