Sunday 18th May was Bell Sunday, named as such because St Dunstan is the patron saint of bell ringers and 18th May is St Dunstan’s day. It therefore seems particularly apt that the cathedral decided to formally thank Ron for his many years of service during the Sunday service for which many of the bellringers were present. Canon Benjamin was generous in his praise and thanks to Ron and presented him with a rather elegant gift of a cathedral umbrella and a book.
At the same service the entire band were formally presented with our Association of Ringing Teachers ‘Band of the Year’ award. It was good to see both the band and Ron publicly acknowledged in this way in our own cathedral.
